I like Mitt Romney and have heard him give speeches. However, his new book, "No Apology," reads like Ivy League snobbery. Romney speaks of out-of-wedlock births, calling the male's actions "sexual conquests." He is prone to euphemisms to shield the tender ears of octogenarian blue-bloods.
Romney's popularity among Utah Republicans shouldn't be misinterpreted as a sign of strength throughout the nation. He is widely viewed as a carpetbagger. He was born in Detroit but migrated to Massachusetts to win a governor's race. Now that the sun has set on his gubernatorial tenure there, he seeks an abode in California, using his Harvard Yard theory that it could magnetize a few prime Electoral College votes in a presidential year. Instead of running off to plant new political seeds, Romney should shore up the ground he's already treaded.
