SALT LAKE CITY — Former University of Utah basketball player Carlon Brown, who recently put his name in for the upcoming NBA Draft, has committed to play for the University of Colorado.
Brown, who led the Utes in scoring last year at 12.6 points per game, has one year of eligibility left and will have to sit out this season before playing in the 2011-12 season.
Cory Higgins, who led the team with an 18.9 scoring average, will be a senior and Alec Burks, a 6-5 sophomore who scored 17.1 ppg, is a potential NBA early-entrant, meaning Brown would have a chance to be the most experienced guard for Colorado's 2011-12 team.
One of 70 college underclassmen to file for the NBA Draft last month, Brown will obviously take his name out of consideration.
Brown was one of four underclassmen to leave the Ute program after last season. The others, Marshall Henderson, Matt Read and Jordan Cyphers, haven't announced where they are going.
The Buffaloes are coached by Tad Boyle who took over for Jeff Bzdelik, after he left for Wake Forest at the end of the season.
