Blessing of animals is today at church

MILLCREEK — The annual "Blessing of the Animals" will be today at 10 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E. 3300 South. The church staff, church leaders and congregation will confer honor upon the pets brought in, both great and small, furry or not, with a blessing and an expression of gratitude.

Aglow event today at River of Life

MURRAY — Aglow International of Salt Lake will feature "Practical Ways to Trust the Lord," by Jodi Van Rhee, today, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at 213 W. 4800 South.

The event will be at the River of Life Community Church. There is a $5 cost for the meeting, which includes a continental breakfast.

Lag Ba'Omer Sunday at Chabad center

"Lag Ba'Omer," a festive day on the Jewish calendar, will be celebrated on Sunday, May 2, at the Chabad Community Center, 1760 S. 1100 East. There will be music, food and activities.

The First Unitarian Church of Salt Lake will present "Envisioning America: The Faith of Our Founding Fathers" on Sunday at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. sermons at 569 S. 1300 East.

Rummage sale set at Christ United

MILLCREEK — The Wesley Bell Ringers will conduct its 41st semi-annual rummage sale May 7 and 8 at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E. 3300 South.

Hours will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 7 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 8. The public is invited. The sale features gently used items from nearly 500 families connected to the bell choir, church and neighborhood. The sales have become an integral part of the church's mission to serve the needy. A bevy of volunteers collects the rummage items, prices them and assembles them for sale. Many of the volunteers are parents of choir members. The choir is composed of high school students who are members of Christ United Methodist Church and other faiths. For more information, call 801-486-5473.
