SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Pump-N-Run's 17 and under Red Elite team knocked off Dream Vision, one of the country's top teams, on April 25 at the Double Pump Spring Classic in Las Vegas.
Pump-N-Run trailed by four points with less than 44 seconds to play when Sam Orchard, of Highland, found Nate Fakahafua, also of Highland, for a layup to cut the lead to two. After a Dream Vision missed free throw, Orchard again found Zach Stanley (Lehi) for a buzzer-beating 3-pointer.
Dream Vision boasts five-star recruits such as 6-foot-5 wing Shabazz Muhammad (Bishop Gorman, Las Vegas), 6-6 wing Winston Shepard (Findlay Prep, Henderson, Nev.) and 6-8 center Angelo Chol (Hoover, San Diego).
Pump-N-Run put forth a strong effort defensively, led by 6-8 center Matt Sumsion (Springville), to hold Dream Vision to only 50 points after they had scored 100 or more in every game prior.
