Salt Lake to host what may be nation's largest Scout-O-Rama

SANDY — The Great Salt Lake Council of Boy Scouts will commemorate the 100th Anniversary of American scouting by holding what could be the largest Scout-O-Rama in the nation, with more than 30,000 scouts, on Saturday, May 1, at the South Towne Expo Center, 9575 S. State St.

The Scout-O-Rama is considered the showcase of scouting.

Honored guests scheduled for the event include Gail Miller, honorary chairwoman; the Rev. John C. Wester, honorary co-chairman; Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone, general chairman; John S. Kirkham, council president; and Charles W. Dahlquist II, council president-elect.

Tickets are $5 for a family, and the event is open to the public.

Activities include tower climbing, derby car racing, an obstacle course, medical exhibits, the latest in outdoor gear and more.
