HIGHLAND — A fire destroyed an unoccupied house in Highland on Wednesday.
Crews responded at 9 a.m. and found the home near 6000 West and 10500 North fully engulfed in flames, according to Brad Freeman, deputy chief of the Lone Peak Fire Department. The structure is a total loss, with damages estimated at $150,000.
The fire is considered suspicious because a neighbor heard "noises like small explosions or pops" the previous night, Freeman said. The state fire marshal is investigating.
The couple who had lived in the home moved out due to flooding last September.
