SOFTBALL: At Ephraim, the No. 1-ranked Bruins completed the four game sweep of Snow College today 2-0 and 6-2. Salt Lake (48-3, 36-3 SWAC) holds a seven game lead over Southern Idaho for first place in the SWAC.
Salt Lake managed only five hits in the 2-0 win in game one. Kylee Brinkerhoff collected three hits and drove in Salt Lake's only two runs. Sarah Clark and Reilee O'Brien combine for the shutout while striking out six.
In the final game the Salt Lake scored four runs in the first two innings. Erika James finished 2-4 with a triple, Shaynie Phillips was 2-4 with a RBI and Krystin Jachim drove in two runs and finished 2-3 at the plate.
No. 1 Salt Lake stays on the road for their final away series at Colorado Northwestern in Rangley, Colo., on Friday and Saturday.
BASEBALL: At Price, the Bruins finished the series sweep of Eastern Utah with two wins today 9-7 and 16-2. As a team, Salt Lake collected 28 team hits. The sweep takes Salt Lake's overall record to 30-14 and 21-10 in conference play.
Mike Edstrom threw four innings with six strikeouts to led Salt Lake to the 9-7 win over Eastern Utah. Kyle Bilbrey was 2-3 with a home run and JR Roland finished 2-3 at the plate.
Tyson Memmott and Adam Wilson combined to allow two runs with five strikeouts. Mitch Manning was 3-4 with a homerun and five RBIs, Zach Swasey was 2-5 with two doubles and four RBIs. JR Roland drove in four runs with a homerun and double finishing 4-5 for the game.
The Bruins return home for their final two home series against Western Nevada and Southern Nevada. They face Western Nevada on Friday and Saturday at Cate Field.
