TACOMA, Wash. — Three Tacoma pitchers combined to limit the Bees to just five hits as the Rainiers defeated Salt Lake 6-1 in the first game of a four-game series on Saturday night.

Tacoma touched Bees' starter Sean O'Sullivan for one run in the second and one in the third to take a 2-0 lead and then added three more in the fifth. Salt Lake scored its only run in the seventh as Hank Conger led off with a double. He was still at second base with two outs when pinch-hitter Hainley Statia singled to right center to bring home Conger.

O'Sullivan (1-2) took the loss, as he allowed five runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. Michael Ryan's 10-game hitting streak came to an end for Salt Lake, as he went 0-for-4.

BEELINES: The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim recalled catcher Ryan Budde on Saturday. To replace Budde on the Bees roster, Salt Lake has recalled catcher Brian Walker from Double-A Arkansas.

Budde, 30, has appeared in six games for the Bees in 2010, hitting .286. In 2009, he hit .223 with 16 doubles, seven home runs and 31 RBIs in 83 games for Salt Lake. Budde also appeared in three games for the Angels last season.
