On hearing of Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signing SB1070 into law Friday, activist Tony Yapias of Proyecto Latino de Utah issued a travel advisory to members of Utah's immigrant population.
"Utah Latinos are encouraged to avoid traveling in Arizona for the time being," Yapias said. "Latinos will become a key target of law enforcement because of who they look like, in effect legalizing racial profiling."
Last week, Yapias told the Deseret News that under the new proposal, Arizona was going far beyond legislation currently in place in any other state and the new statute would create problems for all members of the immigrant community, regardless of their legal presence status.
