SOFTBALL: Due to heavy rains and lightning, the Aggies' doubleheader against in-state rival Weber State in Ogden was postponed. The game will be rescheduled at a date to be determined.
In the last four weeks, the Aggies have had single Western Athletic Conference games against both Nevada and first-place Hawai`i as well as doubleheaders against instate rivals Utah, BYU and now Weber State either postponed or cancelled. The games against Utah and BYU have now been rescheduled.
Utah State softball (16-23, 3-10 WAC) stopped an eight-game losing streak against Utah Valley on Tuesday, April 20 with a doubleheader sweep led by the nine-RBI performance by freshman Tina Ferguson.
USU ends the week hosting San Jose State in a WAC match-up. The Spartans will come to town for a three-game series Friday-Saturday, April 23-24. Friday's twinbill is slated for a 2 p.m. start, and the Aggies will celebrate their six seniors before Saturday's game, which starts at 11:30 a.m.
ADMINISTRATION: The USU Athletics Department announced Wednesday that is has postponed a naming ceremony for its equipment room that was scheduled for Saturday, April 24 at 1 p.m., inside the Jim and Carol Laub Athletics-Academics Complex. The unveiling of the J. Ken "Kenny" Seamons Equipment Room will now take place sometime next fall.
Seamons, who served as Utah State's head equipment manager from 1966 to 1992, has had some health issues and was not able to be in attendance for this weekend's ceremony.
