SALT LAKE CITY — Open house and dedication dates for the LDS Church's first temple in Eastern Europe — the Kyiv Ukraine Temple — have been announced.
The dates were released Wednesday by the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The open house will run from Saturday, Aug. 7, through Saturday, Aug. 21, excluding Sundays. Three dedication sessions will follow on Sunday, Aug. 29, with formal temple work to begin the following day.
The Kyiv Ukraine Temple will serve 31,000 LDS members in 13 different European countries.
The temple was announced nearly 12 years ago, on July 20, 1998, with ground broken on June 23, 2007. It will be the church's 134th operating temple.
Meanwhile, the open house for the Gila Valley Arizona Temple begins Friday and runs through May 15, excluding Sundays. It will be dedicated in three Sunday, May 23, sessions, with the temple opening for formal work the next day.
