The Salt Lake Valley Health Department is hosting an Environmental Health Open House Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Environmental Health facility, 788 E. Woodoak Lane (5380 South) in Murray.
The Earth Day celebration will include more than 25 information booths and sustainability presentations, and "how-to" workshops will be presented on a variety of topics, including starting your own community garden, the 10 best ways to compost, considerations when installing solar panels, and building a backyard rain barrel.
The free event will also include hands-on displays such as a hybrid bat-mobile and a CNS Formula 1 race car that runs on compressed natural gas. Families are also invited to visit the Learning Garden or compete in the Toss Your Trash game.
