SALT LAKE CITY — Local officials are trying to locate a 31-year-old woman who has a federal arrest warrant.
The U.S. Attorney's Office and U.S. postal inspectors are asking for help in locating Melissa April Greene, who was indicted April 14 on five counts of bank fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft.
Greene "obtained identifying information" of another individual and used that information to create and cash phony checks, according to the indictment. In one transaction, prosecutors say she took as much as $4,500, and more than $8,500 in total.
Department of Justice officials say law enforcement officers have not been able to locate Greene, but they believe she may be responsible for a number of car burglaries and mail thefts throughout Salt Lake County.
Anyone with information about Greene's location is asked to call the U.S. Postal Inspection Service hotline at 877-876-2455 or their local police department.
