SALT LAKE CITY — The volcanic ash spreading from Iceland across Europe for nearly a week is hindering more than those traveling for business or pleasure.
The canceled flights and closed airports have limited the European arrivals and departures of missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"They are staying in their current areas and missionary training centers until the travel restrictions are lifted and flights are rescheduled," said LDS Church spokesman Scott Trotter.
All missionaries are safe, and work continues as normal in the church's Europe Area, Trotter added.
