Reed Deloss Workman, husband of former Salt Lake City Mayor Nancy Workman, dies at 73
SANDY — The husband of former Salt Lake County Mayor Nancy Workman died in his home Wednesday after a long struggle with diabetes and other health problems.
Reed Deloss Workman was 73 when he died. He started his career as a subcontractor before moving on to general contracting work and building a business that handled state and federal projects. He later retired to focus on racing horses.
He stood by his wife through her 2004 resignation from the mayoral post when she was charged with two felonies regarding misuse of public funds. She was later acquitted by a jury and now works as president and chief executive of the Sandy Chamber of Commerce.
No funeral or viewing will be held for Reed Workman, but his ashes will be scattered at his favorite camping spot in the western desert, according to a media release from the Sandy business group. A fireside service will be held there April 23.
