MAGNA — A shed roof and trampoline went flying Monday as gusty winds tore through Magna with twister-like force.
Officials said the roof struck power lines near 7200 West and 3700 South, causing two residents to lose power. The trampoline lifted off the ground but Unified Police Lt. Don Hutson said it didn't hurt anyone or cause damage.
The storm system generated gusting winds that were between 50 and 55 mph, said National Weather Service forecasters in Salt Lake City. The winds in West Valley City and Great Salt Lake Marina that surround Magna ranged between 30-35 mph.
Forecasters said the storm will be heading into the northern Rocky Mountains on Tuesday but that people can still expect rain and snow showers until Wednesday around the Salt Lake Valley.
Wind gusts ranging from 50 to 60 mph hit parts of Park City and Deer Valley. Cedar City Municipal airport had gusts of up to 46 mph and Tooele reported 41 mph gusts.
