ROY — Police have released additional details about a "tragic event" Thursday that fatally injured a young boy in the driveway of his home.
Tyler Foote, 4, was hit as his mother Michelle Foote, 31, backed out of the family's driveway in a sport-utility vehicle, said Roy police spokeswoman Anna Bond. Tyler's father was also in the SUV, but police are not releasing his name.
"The grandmother was there to help watch the children," Bond said. "She heard the (house) door open and by the time she went out she saw that the little boy had been hit."
The incident happened about 11 a.m. near 2800 West and 5750 South. Tyler was taken by helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Bond said criminal charges are not anticipated.
"It's just a tragic event," she said.
