SOUTH JORDAN — Nate Peterson's two RBIs on a 2-for-2 outing lifted Bingham to a 7-2 win over Region 3 rival Kearns.
Ty Hansen (2-0) earned the win for the Miners (4-2, 1-0) while Jordan Tuitea (0-2) took the loss on the mound for the Cougars (0-6, 0-1).
Bingham doubled Kearns in the hitting department, 6-3, while both teams had two errors.
Bingham led 7-0 before Kearns posted two runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Josh Sandquist had a double for the Miners, while Richie McCarter nailed a triple in the loss.
The two teams still have two games as part of a three-game series, the next game Thursday at Kearns at 4 p.m. Friday will end the series with a game at Kearns, also at 4 p.m.
