OREM — The Utah Transit Authority plans to close a segment of Geneva Road in Orem this weekend for work on the FrontRunner South Provo to Salt Lake City commuter rail project.
The closure will take place at the railroad crossing from approximately 250 South to 400 South. The closure is expected to begin at 3 p.m. Saturday and end early Monday morning.
Southbound traffic on Geneva Road will be detoured east on Center Street to 1200 West. Northbound traffic will be detoured east on 400 South to 1200 West.
FrontRunner construction crews will be installing new track and crossing infrastructure through the intersection.
The 45-mile FrontRunner South line will connect downtown Salt Lake City and Provo and will have stations in Murray, South Jordan, Lehi, American Fork, Orem and Provo. The project is expected to be finished by 2015.
