TRACK AND FIELD: Sharla Manuele has been named the Summit League Female Track & Field Athlete of the Week after shattering a school record and posting a league-best mark in the 5,000-meters.

Manuele finished first in the race, finishing in 16:18.53 to break her own school record by more than 17 seconds. Her time is more than one minute faster than the second-best time in the conference.

Southern Utah track and field will be back in action this weekend when the team competes at the Pomona Pitzer Invitational in Southern California.

WOMEN'S GOLF: Southern Utah University's women's golf team slipped twospots to finish 18th at the University of Wyoming's Cowgirl Classic Tuesday.

After playing their first two rounds at 65-over par 641 over the par 72, 6,108-yardOcotillo Golf Club course on Monday (324, 317) the Thunderbirds slipped to 328on Tuesday after Sadie Palmer was forced to withdraw because of illness. SUU finished at plus 105 and in a tie with Seattle University.

Palmer, who has been the team's top finisher at all but one tournament this season, was leading the team once again after Monday's rounds in 34th place at12-over par 156 after shooting rounds of 77 and 79. She did not take the course on Tuesday, however.

Mikayla Williamson finished first among Thunderbirds in 65th place, at24-over par 240, followed by Jamie Coking at 242 (72nd), Kacy Buckner at 249 (98th) and Morgan Kerber at 253 (107th).

The Thunderbirds were still able to finish ahead of Weber State (974), Eastern Washington (988), Portland (988) and Idaho State (1,018). UTEP claimed the team title at 19-over 883, well ahead of Colorado State and Northern Arizona, which tied for second at plus-33.

Northern Arizona's Stephanie Kim claimed the individual title, shooting even-par 216 to edge Portland State's Britney Yada, who finished second at 218.
