Utah teams stage solid tourney showings

LAS VEGAS — Utah Pump-N-Run Red Elite went 1-1 in U-17 pool play at the Las Vegas Easter Showcase basketball tournament Friday.

In the first game, the Utah team beat the Las Vegas Prospects 76-71 behind 22 points from Nate Fakahafua (Highland). In game two, the Utah team fell 64-58 to the Southern California All-Stars. The Utah U-17's finished pool play 2-1.

Other players on the Red Elite squad include Sam Orchard (Highland), Mike Brown (Wasatch), Blake Wilkinson (Viewmont), Morgan Hesleph (Juan Diego), Austin Bankowski (Woods Cross), Lew Evans (Highland), Matt Sumsion (Springville), Zach Stanley (Lehi) and Austin Hudson (Brighton). The team is coached by Jason Long and Dave Thompson.

The Utah Pump-N-Run Red U-16 team went 2-0 on day two of pool with wins against the Southern California All-Stars (68-51) and Desert Reign (Nev.) (63-61). The team finished pool play 3-0 and earned a No. 1 seed in Saturday's Platinum bracket. Team members include Jordan Loveridge (West Jordan), Marcel Davis (American Fork), Jaden Jackson (Skyline), Jordan Pryor (West Jordan), Davis Erickson (American Fork) and Quincy Bair (American Fork). The team is coached by Todd Phillips and Brad Blanchfield.
