Methodists to wear bonnets for Easter

The Easter bonnet has been around since before Christians even started celebrating Easter and was a symbol to celebrate the coming of spring and new life as the days get longer and the plants burst into life after the cold darkness of winter. Christ United Methodist Church members will be wearing Easter bonnets on Easter Sunday to celebrate the life of their pastor, the Rev. Marti Zimmerman, who has just completed her last round of chemotherapy after having been diagnosed with ovarian cancer in October.

The church, at 375 E. 3300 South, will hold Easter services at 7:30 a.m, 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
