SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Cancer Control Program is offering free colonoscopies to Utah adults who:
are between 50 and 64 years old,
have an average risk for colon cancer,
are at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level,
are uninsured or underinsured,
have no colon cancer symptoms,
and are legal U.S. and current Utah residents.
Participants must meet all of those criteria to qualify.
Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in Utah but is one of the easiest forms of cancer to treat when detected early. Colonoscopies are recommended at age 50 and every 10 years after that for a person at average risk for colon cancer.
The procedures will be performed at medical facilities in Salt Lake County. Call 1-888-222-2542 or visit www.ucan.cc.
