McCoy impresses in workout

AUSTIN, Texas — Short passes, deep passes and everything in between — Colt McCoy hit them all.

The former Texas quarterback showed off his healed right shoulder for NFL scouts for the first time on Wednesday, completing all 46 of his passes in a controlled workout.

McCoy showed some zip on many of the throws, even though a couple came out of his hand a bit wobbly and one deep pass may have taken the receiver out of bounds.

The All-American won an NCAA record 45 games as a starter at Texas but was knocked out of last season's BCS championship game against Alabama on the Longhorns' first drive. A hard tackle pinched a nerve and caused his throwing arm to go numb.

Cardinals' Porter won't be charged

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Kern County prosecutors say no charges will be filed against Arizona Cardinals linebacker Joey Porter in connection with his recent arrest on suspicion of DUI and resisting arrest.

Prosecutor Mark Pafford told The Bakersfield Californian that the district attorney's office does not believe there's a reasonable likelihood that a jury would find Porter guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Officials with the DA's office could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday by The Associated Press.

Porter was arrested recently in a fast-food parking lot in Bakersfield.

The 11-year veteran recently signed with the Cardinals. He also has played for Pittsburgh and Miami.

Manchester's Rooney out 2-4 weeks

LONDON — Wayne Rooney will be sidelined for two to four weeks because of a sprained ankle, a person close to Manchester United told The Associated Press.

Rooney was hurt in the final minute of Tuesday night's 2-1 Champions League loss at Bayern Munich. The person, who spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the announcement had not been made, said Rooney had not broken any bones and should be fit for the World Cup.

Rooney flew back to Manchester from Munich on Wednesday with his right foot in a protective boot. He scored his 34th goal of the season in the second minute of the game at Allianz Arena.

England coach Fabio Capello says the injury is "terrible" news. England plays its World Cup opener against the United States on June 12.

Noonan signs with Seattle FC

RENTON, Wash. — Pat Noonan is now a member of the Seattle Sounders FC.

Noonan's signing was announced on Wednesday. The veteran forward-midfielder was released by Colorado on March 23 and quickly made his way to Seattle for a brief tryout that began on Monday.

Noonan previously played for Seattle coach Sigi Schmid in Columbus during the 2008 season when the Crew won the league title.
