SOUTH JORDAN — A woman who police believe assaulted a man, stole his car and drove it all over the Salt Lake Valley before being arrested may face a number of felony charges.
The woman showed up on police radar just after 9:22 a.m. Saturday when a call came from a Motel 6 at 7263 S. Catalpa Road in Midvale, reporting a vehicle theft, said Midvale Police Sgt. Chad Egan.
The victim reported that he had left his truck running outside the motel and was hit over the head before his vehicle was stolen, Egan said.
The woman then drove the truck from West Valley City to Salt Lake City and then into Davis County before police were able to identify the vehicle in a South Jordan neighborhood, Egan said. It was there that the woman attempted to run over some South Jordan police officers and crashed into a number of fences, forcing her to exit the vehicle and flee on foot, he said.
Police arrested the woman about 1 p.m. and booked her into Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of "numerous felony charges," Egan said, including aggravated assault charges for attempting to run over the officers, vehicle theft, possession of methamphetamine and felony fleeing.
