Pilot John Hess guides the Liberty Belle — the most recently restored World War II Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress — in a loop around Salt Lake City on Monday. The Liberty Belle flies over Salt Lake City. At bottom, Hess lifts off from the Salt Lake Jet Center. One of only 14 B-17s that still fly today, the Liberty Belle was built toward the end of the war and did not see combat. The public is invited to fly on the plane Saturday and Sunday for a fee.
