Utah Passover Seder options include wilderness trip

Utahns interested in celebrating the Passover Seder, commemorating God's protection for the biblical children of Israel in Egypt, have several options, including an overnight wilderness experience.

The formal celebration of Passover, or Pesach, begins at sunset on Monday and concludes on April 5. Both Jewish and non-Jewish Passover Seder services are scheduled in several locations around the state, including:

Chabad Lubavitch of Utah, Monday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the synagogue, 1760 S. 11 East. Advance reservations are required. Cost is $36 for adults, $18 for children under 10. Call 801-582-0220.

Congregation Kol Ami, 2425 Heritage Way, on Tuesday, March 30 in the social hall. Call 801-484-1501 for information.

Temple Har Shalom, 3700 Brookside Drive, Park City, on Tuesday, March 30, at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are sold out.

Passover Retreat in the Desert, April 3-4 in Moab. Features outdoor Reform Seder with traditional foods and camping, as well as options for hiking, biking and rafting. Led by Rabbi Jamie Korngold. Cost is $150 per person and includes two catered, kosher Passover meals, camping, programs and activities. Brigham Young University is hosting multiple Passover Seder services led by Victor Ludlow, a professor of ancient scripture. The services are scheduled for March 26-27 and April 1, 7, 10, 15, 23, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in 3228 of the Wilkinson Student Center. A catered meal and commentary are included.
