The following DVDs will be released Tuesday, unless otherwise specified:

"3 Idiots" (Big Pictures, $19.99) — Bollywood comedy featuring Aamir Khan and Madhavan. Hindi with subtitles.

Not rated, probable PG-13 (slapstick violence, vulgarity)

"Afghan Star" (Zeitgeist, $29.99) — ★★★ — There's some genuine tension in this documentary about a reality-television competition. Persian with subtitles

Special features: Behind-the-scenes minidocumentary.

Not rated, probable PG-13 (slurs, violence, vulgarity)

"Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" (Fox, $29.98) — ★½ — A completely unnecessary follow-up to the surprising 2007 hit.

Special features: Double-DVD pack ($34.98) feature musical highlights short, "'Munk Music Machine," music videos, behind-the-scenes minidocumentaries.

PG (violence, vulgarity, slurs, brief drugs, mild profanity)

"The Baader Meinhof Complex" (MPI, $27.98) — ★½ — This overstuffed thriller discusses terrorist morality, and there are some very tense sequences. German with subtitles.

R (violence, gore, torture, nudity, sex, profanity, vulgarity, slurs)

"An Education" (Sony, $28.96) — ★★★½ — A fairly classy spin on some distasteful material. Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan stars.

Special features: Behind-the-scenes minidocumentary, deleted scenes.

PG-13 (vulgarity, profanity, brief sex, slurs)

"I Sell the Dead" (MPI, $19.98) — Direct-to-DVD horror-comedy, starring Dominic Monaghan as a grave-robber.

"Robin Williams: Weapons of Mass Destruction" (Sony, $14.98) — Stand-up comedy special featuring the popular actor and comedian.

Not rated, probable R (profanity, vulgarity)

"Sherlock Holmes" (Warner, $28.98) — ★★★ — One of the fun, big-budget, big-studio films of late. Robert Downey Jr. stars.

Special features: Behind-the-scenes minidocumentary.
