Utah lost 19,200 jobs to China trade since that country joined the World Trade Organization in 2001, according to a report released Tuesday by the Economic Policy Institute.
The organization said the 2.4 million U.S. jobs lost or displaced during that period was a result of the trade deficit with China.
"The (Utah) job losses have continued despite a dramatic decline in total and China trade deficits that began in the second half of 2009," the institute said. "The 3rd Congressional District was hit hardest in Utah."
The EPI report indicates that the hardest-hit districts for job losses were in California, Texas and North Carolina.
