SALT LAKE CITY — Some of rarest items from the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be displayed in the Church History Library in conjunction with the faith's annual general conference.
The library display will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. on April 2, and from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 9 p.m. on April 3.
The "Treasures of the Collection" display is similar to an exhibit during the library's opening last summer. "Although about 12,000 people attended our original open house where many of these items were displayed, many people have not yet had an opportunity to view these unique and rare documents that relate to the history of the church," LDS Church spokesman Scott Trotter said.
Items include rare books like the 1833 Book of Commandments and the written manuscript "Book of Commandments and Revelations," which contains the first known copies of many of Joseph Smith's revelations.
The Church History Library is located at 15 E. North Temple. The library's research services will be closed during the open house. For more information, visit www.churchhistorylibrary.org or call 801-240-2272.
