CEDAR FORT, Utah County — An Orem man was killed in a motorcycle collision during an annual Polar Bear ride Sunday afternoon.

Brian Morris, 43, was riding with his 63-year-old mother, Sandra Morris when the motorcycle collided with a fellow rider from Roy while they were all heading north through Cedar Fort on state Route 73 around 1 p.m., Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said.

Cannon said the motorcyclists were likely riding close to each other when one drifted. Brian Morris was killed, and his mother, who is also from Orem, was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The other rider, 69-year-old Bert Weaver, was also transported to a hospital in serious condition.

Police said neither Brian Morris nor his mother was wearing a helmet. Sandra Morris and Weaver are expected to survive their injuries.

Cannon said the group of motorcyclists participate in the Polar Bear ride every year as a first ride as summer approaches.
