The Hornets were playing without All-Star point guard Chris Paul (left knee surgery) and saw their best remaining player, power forward David West, get ejected in the first quarter for a flagrant foul.

Utah opened up a lead of as many as 35 points in the third quarter.

The Jazz had six players net double figures led by Paul Millsap's 22 points off the bench.
