WOMEN'S TENNIS: Oral Roberts University won three singles matches and the doubles point Friday afternoon to take a 4-1 win over Southern Utah. The matches were played at Bally's Resort in Las Vegas.

Southern Utah's only point came in third singles where Kirrily Burden came back for an 0-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over ORU's Tayler Pippin.

Kristin Gray gave the Golden Eagles the victory, also with a come-from-behind win, as she overcame SUU's Olga Tatarchenko, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles to clinch the victory. ORU had also won points in the fourth and fifth positions. Ana Costa took a 6-2, 6-4, win over SUU's Carmen Blanco at No. 4, while Ekaterina Kondrashova claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win over SUU's Kristi Latteier at No. 5.

At first singles, SUU's Ksusha Nazarova led Lina Semenova 1-6, 7-6 (9), 3-2, when the match was decided, while ORU's Tori Dollar was up on SUU's Mandie Divino, 6-2, 2-3, at No. 2 singles.

The Golden Eagles won the doubles point when Semenova and Pippen got past Nazarova and Tatarchenko 8-2 and Kondrashova and Dollar beat Latteier and Divino by the same count. Burden and Blanco trailed Gray and Costa 6-5 when the point was decided.

SUU dipped to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in Summit League play, while ORU improved to 3-0 in league play and 3-6 overall.

SUU concludes the weekend with matches against Centenary and Western Illinois today.

MEN'S GOLF: Southern Utah remained in 17th place at the University of Denver's Desert Shootout, being played this weekend at the par-71, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz.

Jeff Evans shot his second straight 73 (146) to move up three spots into 47th place and lead the Thunderbirds. Brad Millard shot a 76, however, to slip out of a tie with Evans and into a share of 68th place at 149.

Jordan Orth was third among the T-Birds in 92nd place at 158, while Doug Fowles was another shot back and in 94th and Justin Bateman was 99th at 167.

The Thunderbirds were at 36-over par 612 as a team, well off the pace of leader Eastern Michigan, which sat at 18-under 558 heading into today's final round.

Wichita State's Dustin Garza held the individual lead at 11-under 133 after shooting a tournament-low 65 on Friday. He hald a one-shot lead over EMU's Brandon Lemons.
