This is a real no-brainer.
The new "re-imagining" of "Alice in Wonderland" has already made back its reported $200 million production budget — and that's just with the brisk ticket sales in the United States.
Given that and the popularity of that film's star, it seems like it should be obvious — someone needs to get Depp and director Tim Burton to make their long-rumored movie adaptation of the beloved Gothic soap opera "Dark Shadows" now.
Vampires. Johnny Depp. What else would you need to make about a kazillion dollars?
Of course, knowing Hollywood executives, they'll attribute the success of "Alice" solely to the 3D format. Speaking of which, isn't it time for theater owners to pony up the bucks for more 3D screens?
It's clear that 3D is here to stay, yet the number of available screens to show films in that format is limited.
While I'm at it, here are a few more "no-brainer" suggestions:
GET JAMES CAMERON TO MAKE ANOTHER "TERMINATOR" MOVIE.
Hey, Ridley Scott is returning to the "Alien" franchise (he's producing a new "prequel" movie).
And no one else should have ever been able to tinker with Cameron's "Terminator" characters in the first place.
GET JOSS WHEDON TO WRITE THE NEXT "TWILIGHT" MOVIES.
The movie adaptations of the best-selling vampire romance tales have taken themselves way too seriously.
And "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Whedon knows how to tell human-vampire love stories with humor and pathos.
PARAMOUNT PICTURES AND MARVEL STUDIOS, DON'T BE STINGY WITH YOUR CAPTAIN AMERICA.
A fresh-faced actor or newcomer is not who they need to play the star-spangled superhero. And neither are Ryan Phillippe and Channing Tatum, who are currently being pursued.
Also, they'll need to pay more than the rumored $300,000 salary they offered to John Krasinski.
And while they'll need to shell out a few million to secure someone like Brad Pitt or Matt Damon, it will be worth it.
