CEDAR CITY — Do you have a map of the new Dixie National Forest motorized travel system?
If not, the Dixie National Forest will be hosting community open houses across southwestern Utah to provide maps and answer questions about this important project.
The Motorized Travel Plan established a system of 2,700 miles of designated routes on the Dixie National Forest. Visitors to the forest are expected to stay on these routes. Traveling off a designated route is prohibited.
Community open houses will be from 5 to 7 p.m.:
March 23, Cedar City Ranger District, 1789 N. Wedgewood Lane, Cedar City
March 24, Powell Ranger District, 225 E. Center, Panguitch
March 25, Pine Valley Ranger District, 196 E. Tabernacle St., St. George
March 30, Escalante Interagency Visitor Center, 775 W. Main, Escalante
March 30, Boulder Town Hall, 351 N. 100 East, Boulder
April 8, Pine Valley Fire Station, 680 E. Main, Pine Valley
April 14, Ruby's Inn, 1000 S. Highway 63, Bryce
Maps of the motorized travel system are also available in electronic form on the forest Web site at www.fs.fed.us/r4/dixie/projects/MTP or at local Forest Service offices in St. George, Cedar City, Panguitch and Escalante.
