HILL AIR FORCE BASE — President Barack Obama has nominated a colonel at Hill Air Force Base to be promoted to the rank of brigadier general.
The announcement about Col. Scott W. Jansson, who is serving as vice commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center, was made recently by Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
Jansson has been stationed at Hill since 2006, when he was assigned as commander of the Air Logistics Center's 508th Aircraft Sustainment Wing, followed by his command of the 508th Aerospace Sustainment Wing in 2007 and the 84th Combat Sustainment Wing in 2009.
He took his current post in August.
Jansson entered the Air Force in 1984 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has held a number of acquisition and sustainment engineering, management and command positions on Air Force space and weapons systems. He has served as a group commander and system program manager for the F-16 program and was the first F-22 production division chief.
