Convergys Corp., based in Cincinnati, has scheduled several recruitment events this month in connection with plans to hire 1,500 temporary workers to help with the 2010 U.S. Census.
Both full-time and part-time jobs are available for people to make outbound telephone calls to U.S. residents who have submitted incomplete or inaccurate census questionnaires. The Taylorsville center, 860 W. Levoy Drive, has about 1,390 employees and will be hiring about 1,000 for the census project. The Ogden center, with about 370 workers at 1400 W. 4400 South, will add about 500 temporary employees.
Employees will be paid $14.15 per hour, which includes a stipend for health benefits. Tuesday's events are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University of Utah, 201 Presidents Circle, and from 5 to 8 p.m. at ITT Tech Murray, 920 W. Levoy Drive. Wednesday's is from 5 to 6 p.m. at Stevens-Henager, 383 W. Vine St., Murray. Details about those and other recruitment activities are at the "Events" link at careers.convergys.com.
