It seems there is something rotten in this nation-state (see "Hamlet"). That rotten thing is a great civic war being played out by constituents, lobbyists, legislators and the media. This war is between the two extremes of each major political party. We watch the battles on television and in the blogosphere. Such a war is unbecoming of our nation. Such a war does not help, it only tears us apart. We are becoming a house divided against itself, and such a house cannot stand (Abraham Lincoln). Come to the table and stop this stupid war or a new party will emerge to take the place of one of the old. To quote the second witch in "Macbeth," "Something wicked this way comes" if we allow this to continue.
