Two comic-adventure series from the 1980s make their DVD debut this week, along with a pair of first-rate documentaries.

"Scarecrow and Mrs. King: The Complete First Season" (Warner, 1983-84, five discs, $39.98). Single mom Amanda King (Kate Jackson) inadvertently gets mixed up with undercover agent Lee "Scarecrow" Stetson (Bruce Boxleitner), which leads to her becoming his partner.

Amusing comedy-adventure series benefits from the charisma and chemistry of the two leads, and Beverly Garland has fun as Amanda's mother. Guests this season include Jane Kaczmarek, George Chakiris, Doug McClure and Utahn Marie Windsor.

Extras: full frame, 21 episodes

"Matt Houston: The First Season" (CBS/Paramount, 1982-83, six discs, $49.99). Lee Horsley stars as the wealthy Texan of the title who goes to Los Angeles for business and stays to solve crimes (and be pursued by women). Horsley is sort of a low-rent Tom Selleck but the show has its amusing moments.

Guests in Season 1 include Jill St. John, Heather Locklear, Britt Eklund, Janet Leigh, Hope Lange, Jessica Walter, Beverly Garland, Mary Ann Mobley, Zsa Zsa Gabor, George Takei, Sonny Bono, Robert Goulet and many more.

Extras: full frame, 23 episodes, promos

"The Brothers Warner" (Warner, 2009, color and b/w, $19.98). This documentary on the Warner Bros. studio is also a love letter from Cass Warner Sperling to her grandfather Harry Warner, the brains behind the outfit — despite his being overshadowed by his more flamboyant brother Jack.

Nice history lesson about Hollywood business practices from the 1920s forward, with a personal touch that offers an insider view. Some great clips and interviews with Dennis Hopper, Debbie Reynolds, Angie Dickinson, Norman Lear, Tab Hunter, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Roy Disney and Samuel Goldwyn Jr.

Extras: widescreen/full frame

"Building Alaska" (PBS, 2010, $24.99). This 90-minute documentary chronicles the history of our 49th state from 19th century railroads to the biggest earthquake in the United States. Fascinating stuff.

Extras: widescreen

"Walker: Texas Ranger: The Seventh Season" (CBS/Paramount, 1999-2000, five discs, $54.99). Chuck Norris returns for Season 7 of his Western-flavored cops-'n'-robbers show, and Walker finally marries assistant D.A. Alex (Sheree J. Wilson).

Extras: full frame, 25 episodes
