Out there ...

American snowboarder Hannah Teter tells People magazine now that the Olympics are over, she'll be returning to Vermont — to live in some unusual accommodations.

"I will live in the yurt part time," she said. "Mom has (a) huge garden and fruit trees, and I love it there. I helped my parents get solar power this past year, and I'll be running on solar and hopefully wind power with my yurt so I can be completely off the grid."

Sounds like she's already a little off her grid, doesn't it?

... and back

Sources say Teter still plans to watch next year's ESPN coverage of the X-Games using her silver medal and a granola wrapper for reception.

Trail of tears

A final thought on the Olympics: That was quite the move by Russian figure skater Evgeni Plushenko, when he finished second but walked onto and over the gold medal podium afterward, in protest.

It's just a good thing the Colts didn't think of doing that after the Super Bowl.

AWOL

Ute basketball coach Jim Boylen had a minor dust-up with the media, last week, following the Utes' embarrassing loss to BYU.

Asked by a Daily Utah Chronicle writer how it felt when his team missed the first 12 shots of the second half, Boylen replied, "It felt like (expletive)."

Kinda looked that way, too.

Boylen also chided Tribune columnist Gordon Monson for not covering many Ute games.

"Yeah, nice of you to show up," said Boylen sarcastically.

I figure the problem really wasn't whether Monson showed up; it's that Boylen's team didn't.

Quick fix

BYU backup guard Michael Loyd has been on a roll.

Loyd replaced star Jimmer Fredette on Feb. 27 and scored 19 second-half points against New Mexico. He followed that with 18 points in the first half against Utah, four days later.

That's quick results.

Just wondering: Any chance they could sic him on the health-care crisis and see how fast he can fix that?

One door closes

Court documents say Allen Iverson and wife Tawanna are divorcing after an 8 1/2-year marriage. This is the same woman he allegedly locked out of the house naked during a fight in 2002.

Considering what Iverson stands to lose in the settlement, could be he's the one who gets locked outside the house naked, this time.
