Springville gets new fire chief Henry Clinton

SPRINGVILLE — City leaders reached into Las Vegas to pick Springville's next fire chief, Henry "Hank" Clinton.

A California native and career firefighter, Clinton served with the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Department for 28 years, Police Lt. Dave Caron said.

Clinton replaces Phil Whitney, Springville's popular fire chief for 25 years before he died suddenly in November at age 72.

Clinton has worked as a firefighter, paramedic, engineer captain and battalion chief, Caron said. Clinton was Las Vegas' emergency medical services chief for five years, support services chief for a year and suppression chief for more than seven years.

Clinton's credentials also include college degrees in fire science and administration, and he completed the executive officer program at the national fire academy, Caron said.

Clinton taught as an adjunct instructor and the Las Vegas community college for 11 years.

He begins work in Springville on April 5.
