PROVO — Utah County Commissioner Gary Anderson announced Friday that he has decided to run for another term.
Anderson said he wants to see the many projects that the county has been working on over the past several years through to completion. That includes dozens of road projects and a Utah County convention center.
"As we've done all the things we've done, we have done it all without raising taxes," Anderson said. "We are doing more with less."
He said he will continue to keep county taxes low and county government lean.
Anderson said another reason he is running is because he wants to bring in as many as possible of the 21 businesses that are seriously considering coming to Utah County, thus creating thousands of jobs for residents.
When Anderson stepped in as county commissioner, he said communication between the county and the cities wasn't anything like it is now. "I am a guy who brings people together," he said.
But he also said there is a good dynamic in the current team of commissioners that has helped move the county forward.
Besides being on the commission the past three years, Anderson served on the commission from 1983 to 1989.
He was encouraged to come back from his law practice to the commission in 2006 and said he is excited for the future of Utah County.
Anderson is a father of 11 and lives in Springville.
He is running for commission Seat B. So far, only one other candidate said he will be running against him, Cedar Hills resident Joel Wright.
