PRICE — Haley Holmstead has enjoyed plenty of scoring outbursts for Salt Lake Community College this season.

On Friday night, Sheila Adams channeled her teammate's explosiveness to get the Bruins a huge 86-77 victory over Snow College in the semifinals of the Region 18 women's basketball tournament.

Adams scored 31 points to lead fifth-ranked SLCC, going 9-of-16 from the field and 6-of-9 from 3-point range. Jaime Mokofisi chipped in 20 points and 13 rebounds off the bench, and Dayna Burgess added 18 points and dished out nine assists for SLCC.

The Bruins will face North Idaho in the championship game Saturday.

CEU 75, SLCC 65: At Price, a repeat national title will not be in the works for Salt Lake Community College this season.

The defending NJCAA champions fell to the College of Eastern Utah 75-65 on Friday night in the semifinals of the Region 18 Tournament.

With the game knotted at 6-6, Nick Thompson hit a fadeaway jumper to spark a 16-5 run that gave CEU a 22-11 lead. The Eagles still led by 12 points five minutes into the second half, going up 49-37 on a layup from Michael Glover, when SLCC mounted a rally.

The Bruins cut it to six twice on three-pointers from Jake Dastrup and Darian Norris and closed within three at 59-56. CEU took off on a 12-2 run — capped by a pair of free throws from Thompson — to put the game out of reach.
