Water, sewer fees reduced in Salem

SALEM, Utah County — Builders were handed a break this week when the City Council reduced water and sewer impact fees.

The fees are paid to cover the financial impact on the city when a builder pulls a building permit. The new fees are $1,771 for the culinary water fee, down $504, and $1,615 for the sewer fee, down $115.

The reduction came from the slowdown in the economy, which stunted construction growth and reduced the need for planned infrastructure, Mayor Stanley Green said.
