SALT LAKE CITY — Three construction firms said Wednesday they will team up in a joint venture to compete for the construction contract for the 1 million-square-foot Utah Data Center project at Camp Williams.
Turner Construction Co., Kiewit Building Group and Jacobsen Construction Co. have formed Turner Kiewit Jacobsen.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will oversee construction of the Utah Data Center, being built to store massive amounts of information for use by U.S. defense agencies. About 100,000 square feet of the facility will accommodate computer equipment, while another 900,000 square feet will house technical support and administrative spaces. The project schedule calls for most of the construction to occur in less than three years.
Turner managed the construction of Rio Tinto Stadium and the E Center in association with Jacobsen. Kiewit was involved in the reconstruction of Interstate 15 in Salt Lake County. Jacobsen's projects include key elements of City Creek Center.
