Y. Studies Symposium March 12, 13

PROVO — It seems natural for BYU Studies to celebrate its golden anniversary by holding a symposium. On March 12 and 13 starting at 11 a.m. both days, more than 50 scholars will explore "Things Both in Heaven and in the Earth." The symposium will be at BYU's Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center. There is no cost to attend — and if you can't attend, the event will be covered on the BYU Studies blog (the link will be posted on BYUStudies.byu.edu) and, of course, with select articles on Mormon Times.

Speakers include Richard Neitzel Holzapfel, professor of church history; Van C. Gessel, professor of Japanese; and George S. Tate, professor of humanities and comparative literature. There will be presentations on everything from a pandemic context for Doctrine and Covenants 138 to how Jean Valjean is like Alma the Younger. Look for a full schedule on BYUStudies.byu.edu. For information, call 801-422-6691 or e-mail byustudies_symposium@byu.edu.
