ALBUQUERQUE — The BYU women's basketball team could only manage 18 percent shooting from the field, falling 62-30 to the New Mexico Lobos.

"We got outplayed today," said BYU head coach Jeff Judkins. "For some reason we just weren't ready to play and we couldn't get the ball in the basket."

Mindy Bonham led the Cougars (18-8, 9-5) with seven points and four rebounds, shooting 3 for 5 from the charity stripe and playing the most minutes of any Cougar.

Neither team scored at the start of the game for more than four minutes when the Lobos (17-10, 9-6) ended the streak and put the first points on the board. The Cougars tried to keep the score close throughout the first half but couldn't combat their unfortunate shooting as they headed into the locker room down by 19.

The second half started in a similar fashion with neither team shooting for the first two or three minutes, but the Lobos, again, took off.

The Cougars struggled with their shooting; the Lobos weren't much better, shooting 33 percent from the field and 26 percent from the 3-point line.

The Lobos were led by Jessica Kielpinski who put up 14 points and six rebounds.

BYU returns home to the Marriott Center on Wednesday to take on Utah at 7 p.m.
