Who will play Captain America?

To paraphrase the "Star Wars" movies: I have a bad feeling about this.

Director Joe Johnston ("The Wolfman") and Marvel Studios are ready to screen-test actors to play the title character in the upcoming superhero movie "The First Avenger: Captain America."

And reportedly, they're looking for someone who can play the role in as many as nine movies, which means the filmmakers are looking for more "economical" choices.

They're also reported to be casting younger, which means we won't see seemingly perfect Captain Americas like Matt Damon, Aaron Eckhart and Brad Pitt — all in their 30s or 40s — in the red, white and blue costume.

If the most recent rumors can be believed, the part still isn't cast, though shooting is supposed to start in July. The studio allegedly has sent the script out to a handful of young actors.

Several sites are reporting that television stars Michael Cassidy, Chace Crawford ("Gossip Girl"), Patrick Flueger ("The 4400"), John Krasinski ("The Office") and Scott Porter ("Friday Night Lights") may be in the mix, as are Garrett Hedlund ("Four Brothers") and Mike Vogel ("Cloverfield").

Also, Jensen Ackles ("Supernatural") and Ryan McPartlin ("Chuck") may have already read for the part, along with relative unknown Wilson Bethel (HBO's "Generation Kill").

It seems odd that a studio would entrust such a crucial role to any of these so-far-unproven actors. (Supposed front-runner Krasinski is too much of a goofball to be taken seriously.)

And it could seriously backfire on them. Especially since the character is supposed to be front-and-center for the subsequent superhero team-up movie "The Avengers."

The actor playing Captain America will have to hold his own with acting heavyweights Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man/Tony Stark), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Edward Norton (Bruce Banner/The Hulk).

Of course, the studio may have to recast the part of Bruce Banner again. (Norton is supposedly balking at reprising that role.)

YES TO THIS.

Other reports suggest that Sony officials are eyeing Logan Lerman for the lead role in a more teen-oriented reboot of the Spider-Man movie franchise.

Lerman proved himself in both "3:10 to Yuma" and "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lighting Thief," so this could be good news.

HIM AGAIN?
