CLINTON — A Clinton man was found dead in his home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after SWAT teams surrounded the home Monday evening.
About 8 p.m., the father of a homeowner in the 2600 West block of 2250 North entered the home with police after becoming concerned because his son hadn't shown up for work in several days, said Clinton Police Lt. Dave Valentine.
As the father and officer started upstairs, they heard a gunshot.
SWAT teams surrounded the house and police officers from Clinton, Syracuse, Bountiful, Clearfield and North Salt Lake and Davis County Sheriff's deputies arrived and tried to make contact with the man via phone and a robot with a video camera.
Valentine said police were eventually able to determine the man was dead.
Neighbors from about 15 homes were temporarily evacuated to a nearby wardhouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
