Just six games into the season, Majerus undergoes septuple bypass open heart surgery. He sits out remainder of year while team finishes 16-14.

Named WAC coach of the year after taking a team picked to finish 6th in the WAC to a championship with a 15-1 record. Later named UPI national coach of the year.

Utah completes 30-4 season with loss to unbeaten UNLV in the West Regionals in Seattle.

Utes finish tumultuous 24-11 season with win over Florida in consolation game at NIT. With 9 seconds left and Utah clinging to a one point lead, Majerus is slapped with a technical foul, and the Utes lose to Notre Dame in the semifinals.


March 21

After making the NCAAs as a No. 8 seed and defeating Pittsburgh, Utah is eliminated by Kentucky 83-62 (get used to it) in Nashville.


March 10

Utes complete trying season wracked by suspensions and injuries. They finish at 14-14 and suffer a 31-point loss to BYU in the WAC tournament.
